BEHIND THE SCENES OF SUMMER 2011
COLOUR POP
The strongest message for this summer is to embrace colour.
Don’t be afraid of colour or mixing different colours together – the rules are made to be broken this summer. Go head to toe in solid shades as block colour is the key - whether it be contrasting brights or more neutral shades. This is a pattern free zone.
URBAN SAFARI
The safari look was very prominent on the Eurpoean summer catwalks and is a great move on from the military look of winter, with more fluid, feminine shapes and detailing. Earth tones of dark sahara, tan, khaki and stone can be mixed back with animal prints, ‘hardware’ jewellery and tan accessories for a very versatile look.
WHITE ON WHITE
White is the perfect alternative colour when it comes to creating a minimal, classic and perfectly polished look. It can be just as striking as the brights and is all about wearing white from head to toe – total purity. Break it up with tan accessories.
DENIM
Lightweight denim is set to be big for summer thanks to Stella McCartney’s obsession with the fabric for SS11, where she sent a variety of denim pieces down the runway.
Denim is a timeless fabric, which can be used to create different fashionable looks suitable for all occasions. It is the perfect staple to pair back with this season’s other key trends and perfect for an effortless casual chic look.
